Two vacancies in design research
at Sheffield Hallam University
***************************

Post 1

RESEARCH FELLOW - DESIGN AND INNOVATION

Applications are sought for a post-doctoral Research Fellow
to further develop the profile of the Art and Design Research
Centre in the field of design and innovation research. The
Centre has undertaken a range of externally funded projects
in this area, with clients that include the Design Council and
the Crafts Council. Our intention is to further develop policy-
oriented research in design, which currently includes research
on design and crime.

With a research degree at PhD level in a relevant field, it is
expected that you will work alongside three Professors in
design research, and will have a strong team ethos, the
proven ability to take initiative and present a clear and
distinctive research agenda that extends that of the Centre.
You will be required to undertake research on continuing
projects, together with initiating new activities. An adaptable
and broad interest across design research will be required.

You will have a strong research record in design or related
disciplines, which includes experience of externally funded
projects. The ability to communicate research findings to
policy makers, and to work in an interdisciplinary context is
essential.

Salary up to 24,842 pounds sterling per annum.

and research projects that explore new technologies, links
with industry and curatorial opportunities. Applications
are sought for a Research Assistant, who will play a key role
in building the profile of the Unit, raising external funding
and developing new initiatives with a team of research
active staff.

With a BA or MA degree in an appropriate discipline and
ideally with a research degree at PhD level in a relevant
field, you will have a demonstrable understanding of
research issues in contemporary metalwork, experience
of undertaking research in a craft field, and proven abilities
in presenting research findings. A good communicator,
who can work effectively with research and business
communities, you will also demonstrate a clear ability to
