Ah but was there a problem? There certainly seems to have been one and the
thing we have looks like a solution to something but the reasons for producing
it are complex. The PhD in question will look pretty much like a piece of
problem investigation and will have a (dare I say it?) positivistic quality
which I am very happy with, but I am not exactly sure whether that is a true
reflection of what has happened or just a convenient way of framing it to get a
PhD without going mad. For me the interesting thing about the project is the
questions it asks rather than the knowledge it provides and I am still trying
to understand what they are.
