A very nice note from Bryn. I liked all of the points, but this one
particularly struck me as close to my own experience--and a good
suggestion for doctoral work.

I believe this is very appropriate at all levels of doctoral work, but
has special relevance at the beginning point. Contrasts and spread
provide a wide range of thematic variations.
