The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 lay down the health & safety arrangements every employer should have (Reg. 5).
The Approved Code of Practice associated with this Regulation sets out the elements of a successful H&S system. All these elements can be applied to an OH service, and performance against this standard can then be audited.
There are many audit tools available, not least the RCN document already mentioned.

Does anyone have any information or guidance on auditing OH Services? I am about to undertake a new job in an OH Dept. My remit is to improve the service but I don't have a base on which to start! Any ideas or advice would be useful.
Sue Manthorpe.
Please note the new email address for the UK Health and Safety Executive is @hse.gsi.gov.uk.
The old address @hse.gov.uk is still valid.
