INFORMATION ASSISTANT
£14,765 - £17,631 p.a. (in 2001)
The King’s Fund is a major independent health care charity. Its busy
library is open to the public as well as being a resource for Fund
staff. We wish to recruit into our team as an Information Assistant
someone who is actively looking to pursue a career in
librarianship/information work. Your duties will include assisting with
the enquiry service and acquisition of new material. This post also has
an emphasis on information work associated with ethnic health issues,
including marketing library services to minority organisations, and
compiling an ethnic health resources bulletin.
Good communication & keyboard skills are required; so too is a
commitment to accuracy & customer care. You will also need to
demonstrate an interest in ethnic health issues; the range of your
cultural experiences must have given you an understanding of the needs
of disadvantaged minority communities.
This post is constructed as a development opportunity for an individual
committed to enhancing core information work skills. A personal
commitment to learning is an integral feature of the role. Applications
from members of minority ethnic groups are strongly encouraged as they
are currently under-represented within the organisation in this type of
work [Section 38 of the Race Relations Act 1976 applies].
For an application form phone our 24-hour answerphone on 020 7307 2501;
fax 020 7307 2806; e-mail [log in to unmask]; or write to Personnel
Dept, King’s Fund, 11-13 Cavendish Square, London W1G OAN. Please do
not send CVs. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is
noon, 20 December 2000.
The King’s Fund is committed to equal opportunities in all its
activities and appointments will be determined solely on merit.
Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community, including
those from minority ethnic groups and those with disabilities.
