Although I am not concerned with water power, I am concerned with electric
power (again !). My numerous inquiries via e-mail to Wales have not
obtained an iota of information about Mason-Elkington's copper
electro-refinery and power plant, supposed to have been built in Pembrey in
1869. The only information I do have, obtained from the British Patent
Office, is a copy of Elkington's 1865 Patent which covers the refinery. The
only information I am seeking beyond this is: a) the copper capacity of the
refinery (tons per day or year); and b) the power capacity of the power plant
(KWhrs per day or year). Although I hope to include this in a paper I am
writing, its publication will be more for the benefit of Wales than of
Arbiter. The Mason-Elkington plants (if they operated successfully) were the
first of each kind commercially anywhere. Others were built elsewhere and
claimed credits as the first. If you can possibly obtain or recommend sources
for the above information, I will cite you as the Wales benefactor.
Thank you kindly for a response.
