Check the Inspectors anual reports, they date from 1850, most of them can be
found in the North Of England Institute of Mining Engineers, Nevills hall,
Newcastle Upon Tyne. Open Tue, Wed, Thurs 10-2pm. All fatal Accidents are
recorded therein, with the names of the dead, cause, Colliery and Company
which owned the pit.
I belive some of these are also at Wigan Library. Also the Lancashire
Mining Museum had a good selection, but not complete. However this is now
shut and I am unsure where they have gon to.
When you get the yearly report you will have to look up the portion
partaining to the relevent area, ie Manchester district, which for many
years was unser the watchfull eye of Mr Dickenson, HMIM
Clive.
