Do you use written information to find out about treatments for a health
condition?
We are now running 'DISCERN' workshops on evaluating consumer health
information on treatment choices for all health service users, carers
and
health professionals
'DISCERN' is a brief questionnaire that enables information users to
assess
the quality of consumer health information on treatment choices and now
DISCERN and CASP (The Critical Appraisal Skills Programme) have joined
forces to offer a series of half-day interactive workshops.
During the workshop, participants will:
* Discuss the importance of good quality information for making
informed decisions about treatment
* Appraise a sample consumer health information leaflet using
DISCERN
* Examine ways in which DISCERN and the issues raised in the
workshop
can help them in future
