This must have been a teriible situation for you. Although I have no
experience of a baby dying in this situation I have experience of severe fetal
distress on CTG occurring requiring emergency LSCS. Our unit policy requires
continual CTG monitoring throughout epidural insertion and following it. It
may be that profound hypotension occurred although mum would usually have been
symptomatic. Although I have not seen any research evidence to support this
when I am at work tomorrow I will look again at the policy and see if there is
any supporting references. If I do come across anything I will let you know
