Research Associate in Social and Cultural Aspects of Technological Change
Academic-related Research Staff Grade 1A (u16,775 - u25,213pa)
Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate, based in the
Sa d Business School, University of Oxford, to take part in a HEFCE funded
study of technological change in universities.
The Research Associate will undertake research as part of the HEFCE funded
project EVINCE (Evaluating Information Technology Related Change in Higher
Education Institutions). The Research Associate will be based at the
headquarters of the Virtual Society? programme in the Sa d Business School
at Oxford University and carry out extensive fieldwork using ethnographic
and participation observation techniques in three University settings
(Reading, Southampton and Brunel). The Research Associate will work under
the supervision of Professor Steve Woolgar at Oxford.
The appointee will have qualifications and/or familiarity with relevant
social science research in sociology, sociology of science and technology
or anthropology, preferably at doctorate level. The fieldwork role is
Assistant to the EVINCE Project Manager based at Reading, where the
Research Associate will spend the large majority of time.
The appointment will be for 30 months from as soon as possible after 1st
October 2000. Salary is negotiable according to qualifications and
experience within the RSIA salary range.
