PART TIME LIBRARY ASSISTANT - 2 EVENINGS (Mondays and Fridays)
The School of Pharmacy (Univ of London) Library is an extremely busy
biomedical academic library offering high quality information services to
students, researchers and staff. In order to extend our evening opening
hours and thereby improve our service to users, we are seeking to appoint a
part-time library assistant to work on Mondays and Fridays evenings during
term time, from 5pm - 9pm.
Duties will include issue desk coverage, enquiry work, help to users,
shelving, tidying, etc. All library housekeeping procedures are
computerised using the Unicorn system. We are looking for an energetic,
intelligent and proactive individual with excellent customer and
communication skills. Previous experience in a busy modern library and a
degree level education will be advantageous.
Applicants should be able to commit to at least one 4 hour session (either
Mondays or Fridays, pref. both). Flexibility about evenings to be worked
and the willingness/ability to help out with extra hours during busy times
will also be an advantage. There is no weekend work required at present.
Pay will be pro rata on a clerical scale, approx £8 per hour. We
anticipate the post will offer excellent experience to those at the early
stages of a library/information career. In-house familiarisation training
will be given.
Applications in the form of a full CV, plus a covering letter giving
details of availability, plus the names and addresses of 2 referees, should
be sent to Ms Marcelle Moncrieffe Johnson, Personnel Officer, The School of
Pharmacy, 29-39 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1AX. Fax: 0207753 5941.
