Yes, indeed! I have been continually irritated by this state of affairs over
the past 2-3 years. The radical changes made to the N facet of the EMTREE
thesaurus in 1997 are STILL not available via the Ovid platform and, in
spite of enquiries made to Ovid Technologies as recently as two weeks ago, I
have yet to receive any response at all. Incidentally, when I raised this
problem with an Elsevier rep at a conference last year, I was informed that
they were aware of the problem and that the fault lay with Ovid. I intend to
pursue the matter again with Ovid at the ICML in July. The more
representations made to Ovid, demanding that this problem be rectified, the
better!

Subject: Embase via Ovid
I wonder if other users are irritated by the tardiness of
the reloading of
Embase data on the Ovid system.
Last September we were planning clinical student training
sessions and, in a
chosen set of only *5* exercises, we discovered problems
with the mapping to
the thesaurus terms:
examples include 'sore throat' mapping through to 'throat
ache' but this
ceased to be a preferred indexing term in 1996
and
'epidural drug administration' became a preferred term in
1997 in place of
'epidural injection', although the latter is the heading
currently displayed
in the thesaurus
We contacted both Ovid and Elsevier in September and replies
indicated that
the revised thesaurus terms etc would be available "within
the next two
months". This has not happened yet.
