Project providing an insight into the peoples and cultures

Human Rights Foreign and Commonwealth Office Annual Report 2000
Report addressing the UK Labour Government's policies and
activities on humanitarian issues, both nationally and
internationally, between June 1999 and June 2000. The
issues covered include topics such as the protection of war
victims, child exploitation, refugees, the EU stance on the
death penalty, and responses to issues raised by the
Kosovan conflict. A list of sources detailing additional
humanitarian resources is also provided.
Digital Dilemma: Intellectual Property in the Information Age
Full text book examining US intellectual property rights in
relation to digital technology. Discusses the emergence of
the digital dilemma as a result of changing technologies
and the importance of digital information, and looks at
associated problems in terms of archiving, private and fair
use, copyright, and technical protection. Specific
opportunities and problems experienced by the music
industry are detailed, and general recommendations are made

Battle of Britain
Documents the Royal Air Force battle fought between 10th
July and 31st October 1940. Provides a diary of daily

World Bank report examining governmental considerations
regarding tobacco control. Describes current smoking

National Resource Center On Homelessness and Mental Illness

corruption. Features a study on bribe-paying in

Virtual Seminars for Teaching Literature
A set of tutorials forms the core of this project which
aims to demonstrate that the virtual seminar is more
effective than the more traditional format which limits
cross discussion between institutions. Material is
presented on the subject of First World War poetry,
including Isaac Rosenberg's 'Break of Day in the Trenches',
manuscripts by Wilfred Owen, and an introduction to text
analysis.
International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning
A refereed, interactive, online journal which aims to
disseminate scholarly knowledge regarding theory, research,
and best practice in open and distance learning. Provides
access to full text PDF articles, and an archive of past
issues. Free subscription is available.
World Trade Organisation
Global organisation dealing with the rules of trade between
nations. Includes an interactive training package on the
work of the WTO, answers to common questions, news,
official documentation, and guides to trade issues such as
intellectual property, GATT, and competition policy.
Trade, Income Disparity and Poverty
World Trade Organisation report finding that the
liberalisation of trade helps poor countries to catch up
with rich ones. Discusses trade, growth, and disparity
among nations, the connection between trade and poverty,
income, economic growth, taxes and spending, and price
changes and the transmission of shocks. Report is available
in English, French, and Spanish in PDF format.
Waveguide TV and Radio News
First established in 1985 as part of the BT Prestel
network, this resource offers a daily selection of UK TV
and radio industry related news stories.
British TV Comedy Resources
Provides an alphabetical index of programmes with a summary
of each production, details of writers and performers, and
a listing of each episode with information about titles and
transmission dates.
Legends
A learning resource providing links to material dealing
with legend and lore. Arthurian and Celtic legends, such as
