Wednesday 30 August 2000, 2pm - 5pm
The Library Association, 7 Ridgmount Street, London
WC1E 7AE
Are public libraries affected by "Clause 28"? Is it really
having an impact? And what are its effects on local
authorities more widely?
Rosalind Hardy, Equal Opportunities Officer for the
Association of London Government, will look at the
wider implications of "Clause 28" and of homophobia
generally, and John Vincent, Networker for the Social
Exclusion Action Planning Network and Chair of the
Burning Issues Group, will talk about the effects on
public libraries.
The Briefing Session will also include opportunities for
discussing what services public libraries are providing,
and whether these are threatened by "Clause 28", and
will look at what positive measures library workers can
take.
