***Apologies for cross-posting***
MIMAS, in association with the British Library and the JISC, is
pleased to annouce the launch today, 26th September, of the new ZETOC
service.
ZETOC provides access to the British Library's Electronic Table of
Contents database of over 15 million article titles derived from the
20,000 most important research journals in the world, dating back to
1993. It is updated daily with approximately 10,000 new additions.
The database includes a unique collection of over 100,000 conference
papers, indexed to title level.
ZETOC is available via a web interface at htpp://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk
and as a Z39.50 target, allowing searching via EndNote, Bookwhere
etc. - see web site for more details.
You may access the ZETOC database if you are a member of a UK Higher
or Further Education institution. A list of eligible HE and FE
institutions is available on the JISC Web site. (ZETOC is not
currently available to the Research Councils, but discussions with
the JISC are on-going.) The ATHENS administrator(s) at your site will
have been notified of this new resource already.
The British Library are funding the development of the service
through to March 2001, thereafter, JISC have agreed to fund the
running of the service until at least August 2003.
Free training sessions, giving an overview of ZETOC and BL's own
inside service, are currently being run at regional centres around
the country - see the ZETOC web site for details.
Note - During October, 'ZETOC Alerting' will become available -
meaning you can choose to be emailed the table of contents from as
many journals as you wish. These will be sent on the day the new data
is loaded into the database, which can be just 72 hours after
publication.
