DELIVERING EFFECTIVE TEACHING 
& LEARNING EVENTS 
A one day workshop organised by Sprig 
and held at the University of North 
London, Thursday 30 March 2000

This one day workshop is relevant to anyone involved  in 
user education, information skills 
training or staff training in a library context. This training might be delivered to large or
small groups or on a one to one basis. We aim to deliver a 
highly participative and practical workshop which will 
enhance the educational skills of librarians enabling them 
to carry out teaching and learning events with increased 
effectiveness and confidence. 


At the end of the workshop participants will be able to: 

· apply basic educational theories to their own teaching and 
  learning events 

· clearly state the aims and learning outcomes of a 
  teaching and learning event 

· plan a teaching and learning event based on the stated 
  aims and learning outcomes 

The facilitators for the event are: 
Sue David - St George's Hospital Medical School 
Martin Scarrott - University of North London 

Both of the facilitators have considerable experience of planning and delivering library 
user education. They attended the Edulib course Teaching for Learning in Libraries and 
Information Services and they have led similar workshops for their own institutions and for 
the M25 Libraries Staff development Group.

The charge for attendance is £55 for SPRIG members and £75 for non members. Lunch,
refreshments and various study materials are included. 
Participants will be asked to undertake a pre workshop 
activity.
