Fellow int-bounders
Happy New Year from all the team at IBRU.
Many of you will have recently received the call for papers for our
conference on 'Borders, Orders and Identities of the Muslim World',
being held at the University of Durham from 12-14 July 2000.
This is a reminder that the printed deadline for the submission of
abstracts is 7th January i.e. this Friday. However, due to
unprecedented problems with the printing of the accompanying
calendar, this flyer did not go out at the scheduled time. We realise
that this has created a short window of time for many of you to meet
the deadline.
The organising committee will have its initial meeting next week to
discuss submitted abstracts. We encourage those of you still
interested in submitting abstracts to do so at any time, as the
committee will meet regularly in the coming weeks. However, as the
programme develops, slots under certain 'themes' may be filled, so it
is in everyone's interest for us to receive abstracts as soon as possible.
Ideally, we are looking for a couple of paragraphs, of 100-200
words, with a (provisional) title, providing a brief outline of your
proposed paper. If further information is required it will be requested.
E-mail submissions are welcome.
We hope to release the conference programme and registration forms
between mid-March and early April.
For those of you who may not have received our postal mailing,
further information on the conference and our workshop programme
can be found at http://www-ibru.dur.ac.uk/conf.html
Programmes and tutor line-ups for our April workshops (Maritime
Boundary Delimitation; Boundary Negotiation and Dispute
Resolution) will be made available at the same web site early next
week.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries about IBRU
events.
Kind regards
