About this job:
Due to a number of exciting projects that we are involved in, we urgently
require a geomatics developer with technical apptitude and solid Visual
Basic programming skills. Knowledge of Active Server Pages, JavaScript and
other landguages is an advantage. If you have skills in spatial analysis
and natural resources development, remote sensing, GIS, GPS, these will all
be utilised as our work is diverse and if you so wish you can play a role in
these elements of our work too. Geo-nerds are welcome but you don't have to
be one either !
Project work will immediately include -
* development of map and image viewers for coastal data for the Irish Sea,
and for the Irish National Coastal Survey (a digital aerial photographic
survey for which we are responsible)
* integration of mapping, database, and modelling systems for the Irish
Coastguard
* development of modules and customized front-ends for ArcView, MapInfo and
other GIS
* Web map and image server development utilising solutions from the main
vendors and also in-house solutions.
* Website development utilising ASP, and Unix versions such as MySQL.
While you may not have all necessary skills to complete these tasks
immediately you will have the aptitude to pick up the skills quickly.
