I view of recent debate it's sobering to think that all of human history could be dismissed as the late Quaternary period ;-)
Seriously, though, I agree that there's no need to include terms for periods that predate archaeological evidence. But where there is an overlap between archaeological terms and those of parallel disciplines it is very important that the thesaurus includes the relevant RTs.
Anyway, re Edmund's original call for terms, the Little Ice Age [c ?14th-18th century AD] has been mentioned before. Also what about catastrophic events like volcanic eruptions (eg Hekla and Santorini)?
