Welcome Nancy,
Can we first define our terms? If by a "healthy" environment or a
"sustainable" community we mean something that is defined by dynamism,
function and indeterminism it makes for a debate. But if - on the other
hand - health and sustainability is defined by present structure, stasis and
a deterministic view of the world (heading somewhere - or getting back to
somewhere) then it makes for an entirely different debate which in my
humble opinion may not be so worthwhile.
What is capitalism as well? Corporate absentee owners with managerial
control seeing life through glass houses in - respectively - suburbs and
Wall Street? - or a gentler form of business that operates locally as well
as with global connections? I like the latter a lot - but it can still be
called "capitalism" by some.
