Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (Two Posts)
School of Civil Engineering

Two exciting opportunities have arisen due to expansion within the School of
Civil Engineering which was graded 4A in the 1996 Research Assessment
Exercise. The posts are suited to people who have obtained a PhD and want
to develop their own research within one of the successful groups at Queen’
s. Excellent laboratory facilities and support are available.
Applicants with a strong research motivation are invited to apply for these
posts tenable from 1 June 2000 or as soon as possible thereafter, for 3
years. The successful applicants will join one of the dynamic research
teams operating within the School which has an established reputation for
quality research and has excellent laboratory and computing facilities.
Applicants must have an honours degree in civil engineering or a related
discipline and have at least three years’ relevant postgraduate research
experience, i.e. any field relevant to the School’s research teams in
Structures, Geotechnics, and Hydraulics. Details of the current research

Salary Scale: Research Grade 1A: £16,286 - £22,579 per annum. Initial
placing will depend on age, qualifications and experience.
