I've used DNS Professional 3, 3.52 & 4 with Inspiration 5. I've never used
e-mind maps with or without voice technology. Many of my students have
found Inspiration a very useful tool. although I am not (officially at
least) dyslexic I frequently find Inspiration useful.
I have not bothered to upgrade to DNS 5 but found the only problem I have
ever had with voice technology and mind mapping is with the correction box.
Sometimes the correction ends up as the text of the next box, without
changing the original error. For brainstorming, etc, however this is rarely
a major problem for me.
I really only use the mouse when I'm making major changes AFTER the initial
mapping. This is because I dictate "Press Function 9" or the equivalent to
add new boxes, etc., when throwing my ideas on to the screen. That's the
beauty of being able to use keystrokes rather than the mouse (which I do as
much as possible). This is what I usually advise my students to do as well,
in any application that allows it.
