Report from the NEDLIB workshop 15th December 2000 - Setting up Deposit
Systems for Electronic Publications (DSEP)
Over 90 people from across Europe and a number of delegates from further
afield including Australia and the United States attended this workshop at
the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB) in The Hague to mark the end of the NEDLIB
research project and celebrate its results. NEDLIB is an EU funded
collaborative project of European national libraries researching digital
preservation and the basic infrastructure upon which a networked European
digital deposit library can be built.
The workshop offered library and archive staff the possibility to learn from
and communicate with the NEDLIB partners about the project results. The
programme covered deposit design and modelling work, web-archiving, practical
guidelines for deposit libraries, standards for e-publishing, digital
preservation strategies and technical solutions. The programme addressed two
different target groups:
· Managers (Heads of relevant library departments, such as Preservation
Departments and ICT Departments; Project Managers of Digital Library
Programmes)
· Technical experts (staff Research & ICT Dept; Digital Collections
Management)
Six publications are being produced to disseminate work from the NEDLIB
project. Three of these are already available from the project website at
