Dear all
The move from mailbase to jiscmail has now taken place. Please address
all emails for this list to [log in to unmask]
This changeover took place over the weekend (25-26 November), though
messages sent to the wrong address (see below) will be forwarded to the
correct one for some time to come.
As promised, to ensure that everyone on all of the lists has been
correctly copied over to jiscmail, I am sending this email (headed
second notice) to the corresponding email list at jiscmail.
What does this change of address mean to you?
---------------------------------------------
The only obvious effect on everyone is that the CPHC email list
addresses have changed with effect from Monday 27 November. Instead of
sending a message to [log in to unmask], you should now send
messages to [log in to unmask] Email sent to the old address at
mailbase will be automatically forwarded to the correct address at
jiscmail for you, but you should take the opportunity to update your
address books this weekend. You should receive a reminder of the
transfer if you send an email to mailbase from this point on.
However, there are some effects that probably only a few of you will
want to know, and only if you are aware of extra facilities provided by
such software (such as temporary suspension of email service). If you
are in this category, read on, otherwise you can stop here.
The important information for those who need to know more than the above
is that the email server has changed. The one that is in use at
jiscmail.ac.uk is LISTSERV, a well-known email server, and the commands
available to users for any LISTSERV server will be available to you.
More information (including a list of user commands) is available at
www.jiscmail.ac.uk/docs/jiscmail-guides.htm.
Fuller information about the change-over from mailbase to jiscmail
------------------------------------------------------------------
Archives and Files up to the transition date will be retained at
Newcastle in a frozen state for an extended period so that existing URLs
which reference them will not break. Archives and Files will also be
transferred to JISCmail and will be maintained and updated there after
the transition date.
If you want more information, you might like to look at jiscmail's home
page at http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/.
Regards
Steve
