The changeover from Mailbase to JISCmail appears to have
gone smoothly, with few changes to the procedure that you
need for sending mail to the list, getting information from
the listowners, and other commands. The updated list
commands are summarised below, with a fuller breakdown of
commands on the JISCmail website.

The commands remain the same, although you should change
the details in your address book, auto-commands etc.

- Do NOT send attachments to this list. Many people who do
not use the same email program or word-processor software
as you will have problems reading your attachments. Many

ALSO - attachments can carry dangerous viruses.

- If you have a promotional message, such as a conference
announcement, a job advert or details of a training course,
please send it to the listowner. This list positively
ENCOURAGES postings of interest across media.

- Keep your message short and on-topic, and use a
meaningful subject line. If you do this people are more
likely to read it. Please try to avoid point-for-point
replies and messages of just 'I agree'.

- When replying to a message, quote part of the original
message, so people can understand the context. But you
don't have to quote the entire message.

- Please ensure that you turn off all auto-reply switches.
Don't forget, sometimes just hitting the reply button only
sends your message to the original contributor.

- This is not a moderated list, and once you hit the 'send'
button, you're committed. Please adhere to the netiquette
rules, and the general acceptable use policy. The
contributions of listees do not constitute the personal
opinions of the listowners.
