-------------------------------------------------------------------
University of Hertfordshire, Hertford Campus, UK
-------------------------------------------------------------------
We are pleased to announce the above workshop.
It will start at 10.30am on Thursday 7 September and
finish at 4pm on Friday 8 September 2000.
Speakers will include:
Bart Nooteboom (Rotterdam),
Tony Lawson (Cambridge) and
Geoff Hodgson (Hertfordshire).
A number of additional papers are planned, including a few time slots for
volunteers who wish to present their research in the areas of (old or new)
institutional economics.
The aim of the workshop is to have an in-depth discussion on key questions
in institutional economics. These questions concern both theory and
application. The maximum number of participants will be 35. You are advised
to book early.
The cost of the workshop will be 60GBP, and 20GBP for students and others
on low incomes. This conference fee includes coffee, lunch and dinner on
the Thursday, and coffee and lunch on the Friday.
The workshop will address the following themes:
(a) The nature of socio-economic structures and institutions
(b) The relationship between the new and old institutionalism and other
approaches in economics and social theory
(c) Applications of the new and old institutionalism to the study of major
institutions - particularly business firms - and to problems of economic
transformation and development.
Presented papers will relate to one or more of the above themes. Volunteers
are invited to send draft or complete papers by email to Geoff Hodgson
([log in to unmask]) by 1 May 2000.
RTF format is preferred. No action will be taken with regard to papers in
an inaccessible electronic format. Please make it clear that the paper is
submitted for the UH Workshop in Institutional Economics. The organisers
will select no more than 5 papers for presentation at the workshop.
The Hertford Campus is easily accessible by train from Central London. It
is close to London Stansted, London Luton, London Heathrow and London City
airports. Airlines such as Go, Easyjet, Buzz and Ryan Air have cheap
European flights from Stansted and Luton.
Cheques should be denominated in GBP and payable to the University of
Hertfordshire. Advice on bed and breakfast accommodation will be forthcoming.
I hope very much that you will be able to attend
Yours sincerely
