BRITISH SOCIETY FOR EIGHTEENTH CENTURY STUDIES, JANUARY 2001 CONFERENCE
The 2001 conference of BSECS will be held at St John’s College, Oxford, from
3rd to 5th January, with plenary addresses by Lynn Hunt and Thomas Laqueur.
We plan sessions on the book trade, satire, gender and the body, sexuality,
colonialism, theatre, opera, classicism, revolution, aesthetics, economics,
and biography, but these topics are not exclusive, and proposals for papers
on any aspect of eighteenth-century culture, thought, or history will be
welcome. Please send proposals for 25-minute papers, with a 100-200 word
abstract, to
