Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that the SCRAN
Resource Base is now open for subscription by:
Further and Higher Education Institutions in the UK.
You are also invited to undertake a free trial of SCRAN
from the 15th November, see below.
SCRAN is a fully searchable resource base of material
culture and human history drawn largely from the Museums,
Libraries, Galleries and Archives of Scotland. It contains
510,000 text records of historic monuments and artefacts
100,000 multimedia resources (e.g. image, qtvr and sound
files) and 70 multimedia essays for educational use.
Among its features are:
- Database is fully searchable with downloadable assets
including still images, audio, video and virtual reality
- Resources in SCRAN are cleared for inclusion in teaching
and learning materials - either paper or electronic
FE: Subscription charges will be 25 GBP in year one, rising
to 150 GBP pa in year five.
HE: Subscription charges will be 50 - 150
GBP pa in the first year, rising to 200 - 600 GBP in year
five, depending on size of institution.
All charges are exclusive of VAT.
*These costs represent a considerable reduction on the full
list prices of 2000 pa for HE and 500 pa for
FE.

agreement, the *SCRAN Resource Base University and College

*SCRAN TRIAL
Institutions are also invited to contact SCRAN to obtain 60
days free trial access. The trial will run from 15th
November to the 14th January 2000.
