At the beginning of the 20th century the London City Mission ran a home for ayahs - Indian nannies who had travelled to the UK with the children of the Raj, and been discharged on arrival. It was in King Edward Road, Hackney and Hackney Archives Department has had a number of enquiries about it recently.
We hold no records, nor apparently does the London City Mission. Has anyone come across anything relating to this enterprise?
