Dear all
I am currently investigating the possibility of an Access to Archives (A2A)
bid to the HLF for the retrospective conversion of finding aids to the
papers of key politicians, political thinkers and political groups of
national importance. The consortium originated in the London Region, so the
Parliamentary Archives will be offering the Lloyd George and Bonar Law
papers; UCL will be offering Jeremy Bentham's and Hugh Gaitskill's papers;
and some other London archives have suggested smaller collections suitable
for conversion. We now want to spread the bid further than the London
region.
I have written to archives with high profile political collections but would
like to use the listserv to hear from any archive with finding aids also
fitting these criteria which they think are suitable for conversion. At
present we plan to submit a bid around October, so we are asking for
expressions of interest by 31 March. A definite commitment would be needed
by the end of May. For more details on the Access to Archives project see
www.pro.gov.uk/a2a/ <http://www.pro.gov.uk/a2a/>
Please reply off list. Thanks.
