PARLIAMENTARY RECORDS MANAGER

The Parliamentary Archives (formerly the House of Lords Record Office) is
seeking an experienced Records Manager to take forward the Parliamentary
Records Management Strategy launched in April this year.
Reporting to the Assistant Clerk of the Records (Records and Information)
you will be responsible for implementing the records management policies and
procedures across the House of Commons and the House of Lords, including
introducing a functional file classification and associated retention
schedules. You will ensure that electronic records are managed in
accordance with best practice, and will provide expert advice and support to
Parliament on the records management implications of existing and
forthcoming legislation. You will be expected to devise a records
management training programme for relevant staff and will liaise with staff
at all levels to promote your policies. You will be responsible for the
management of two staff and will be expected to play a full part in the
day-to-day activities of the Archives by taking a share of public enquiries
and search room invigilation.
You must have proven experience of implementing record-keeping systems in a
large organisation, including designing a file classification, developing
retention and disposal schedules, performing record audits, and have an
understanding of electronic records management issues and legislative
requirements. You must have experience of managing professional staff and
have excellent skills of communication, presentation and persuasion. You
will have a postgraduate qualification in archives and records management.
The successful candidate will be offered a salary depending on
qualifications and experience, with promotion prospects. Leave allowance is
6 weeks per annum and there is a non-contributory pension scheme. The
