English Heritage's Centre for Archaeology, which incorporates the Ancient Monuments Laboratory, will shortly be disposing of a 20-25 year old EDXRF system that is in working order. It was supplied to us new by Link Systems who subsequently became part of Link Analytical and, more recently, Oxford Instruments. Full details of the system can be made available to any interested parties.
The system is offered without any sort of warranty, but last year it was moved from London to its new location in Portsmouth and continued to work.
We realise this XRF system has a limited cash value but are inviting bids for it. However, we are also interested in seeing it continues to provide a resource for English/British archaeology so we will take this, as well as the price offered, into consideration in deciding where it goes. The new owner will have to collect it from our base in Portsmouth.
If you are interested in acquiring the XRF, please contact Justine Bayley at the Centre for Archaeology (details below) as soon as possible but by 15th September 2000 at the latest. Please note she is away until 8th August so no further information can be provided before then.
