Initially I sent my amendments for the 00/01 database in the same way
that I had for the 99/00 database. This was by means of a
spreadsheet attached to an email.
However, after a few WEEKS I got an irate call from a certain person
(who could be named) at the SLC saying that I was to follow the
procedure in the manual that had come with the 00/01 software. I
then spent the next few WEEKS pointing out that the manual did not
mention how to action amendments but could get not seem to get this
point through to the SLC, who seemed incapable of giving me
alternative instructions on how to proceed.
Eventually I did get someone to advise on how I should proceed with
amendments, and was told to amend the relevant course details using
the original submission via the SLC software. Then to resubmit the
whole thing. This instruction was carried out and a re-submission
made with the amendments input.
After several WEEKS it came to my attention that the amendments did
not appear to have been actioned by the SLC. I rang up to make
enquiries as to whether the revised data had been dealt with and was
told it had not been received by the SLC. Luckily I had a read
receipt which contradicted this piece of mis-information. I was then
told that yes, they had received the submission but could not action
it because the method of submission was once again not correct. (But
they obviously weren't going to bother to let me know this).
After several WEEKS of trying to find out the next 'correct' method
of submission, I was finally sent a CD ROM with data to be reloaded
into the SLC software. Apparently the changes have to be reinput
after uploading the info on the CD ROM into the programme and then a
resubmission of the whole database should be made using the same
method as for the original submission.
I am now in a position where I have to back track to find every
course amendment that has been made since the original submission.
All this has cost weeks of work.
