Subject: Replacement ID cards
I am currently looking at our charges for replacing lost student ID
cards. I would be grateful if colleagues could answer the following
questions.
1) How much, if anything, do you charge students for replacing lost
cards ?
Answer: We charge £5.00 for replacement cards and have done so for the last
couple of years. The only exception is if the student/staff member produces
a crime certificate from the Police confirming theft. We used to accept just
the number until some students were caught making up crime numbers.....
2) Are the ID cards simply a plastic card or are they a smart/swipe card
Answer: We use a SMART card which currently combines Library,C&IT,enrolment
confirmation and door access plus membership if the CityCard scheme (which
is like a Boots/Tesco card). Coming soon - integrated NUS membership & hook
up with Nottingham City Transport.
3) Do you issue new cards annually or are they for the life of the
course ?
Answer: They are designed to last the length of the course-- though we will
have a mass reissue coming up when the new services come on line. However it
is nice to only have to organise collection for cards for new students.
Please respond directly to me and if there is sufficient response I will
send a summary to the list.
Thanks
David
