For X-linked ichthyosis, you need an assay of DHEA sulphatase (or steroid sulphatase). In Australasia, this is available in Adelaide (try http://www.health.adelaide.edu.au). I don't know about closer to the UK but I couldn't find anything on Assay Finder.

One of our Dermatologist has a male patient with suspected ichthyosis
vulgaris. She suspects that this may be an X-linked ichthyosis (aka
Kallmann's or Rud's syndrome) because of the family history. Apparently
these patients have raised serum cholesterol sulphate which can be detected
on lipoprotein electrophoresis in a "few centres in the UK". Apparently the
changes can be subtle and an experienced eye is needed.
I have looked on Assay Finder but can find no mention of this assay.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks.
