NESBReC GIS Project Officer
£21,374 - £22,338 a year
A full-time opportunity has become available for a GIS Project Officer with the North East Scotland Biological Records Centre (NESBReC). Established in 2000, NESBReC has developed successfully into the focus for biodiversity information in the North East of Scotland.
NESBReC is seeking a confident, self-motivated individual, who is highly competent in GIS, database administration and general IT. You should hold a GIS qualification at a minimum of HNC standard although degree level is desirable (or have proven significant experience). You should have the ability to work on your own initiative and have excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience of using ArcGIS and the Recorder 6 database application would be a distinct advantage. Experience in biological recording is also desirable. Working as part of a small, dedicated team, you will be involved in the collation, management and dissemination of biological information. Together with existing staff, you will manage a wide range of datasets, responding to data requests from local authorities, organisations, groups, consultants and individuals. In addition, you will be responsible for the GIS requirements for all NESBReC projects. NESBReC is part of the Specialist Services Team within Planning and Building Services, Infrastructure Services, Aberdeenshire Council. The post will be located at Woodhill House, Aberdeen.
