Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the Tectonophysics
T11 session at Fall AGU (San Francisco, 14-18 Dec):
**
*From East to West: New Views on the Geology and Tectonics of the
Himalayan-Tibetan orogen*
The along-strike continuity of lithotectonic units and structures, and
similarity in timing of tectonic events along the Central Himalaya and
Tibetan Plateau are two of the most striking features of this archetypal
collisional orogen. Towards the eastern and western terminations of the
orogen, however, the consistency of these features breaks down with
significant changes in the timing and grade of metamorphism, the
relative age and geometry of fault systems, lithotectonic units, and
timing and magnitude of exhumation. At the limits of the orogen, the
continuation of features characteristic of the central region is uncertain.
This session will provide a forum for all geoscience research in the
Himalayan-Tibetan orogen, especially studies focusing on changes in
geotectonic features towards the syntaxes. With your input we hope to
lay on a lively, interesting and informative session that will help to
answer some outstanding questions and open new directions for research.
The abstract submission deadline is *3rd September.
