===Call for Abstracts (papers and posters)===
The United Nations University for Environment and Human Security
(UNU-EHS) invites authors to submit abstracts of their work to the
International Conference on Environment, Forced Migration and Social
Vulnerability (EFMSV). The EFMSV conference will be held on 9 - 11
October 2008 in Bonn, Germany. Conference organisers are seeking papers
and posters that will present new areas of research shedding light on
the causes and consequences of human displacement as well as its
patterns and linkages with environment and social vulnerability.
Abstracts should address one of the following topics:
o Environmental drivers of migration
o Geographical distribution and trends in environmental vulnerability
and migration
o Assessment of migratory fluxes due to environmental drivers
o Migration as a coping strategy in the face of vulnerability to
environmental change
o Temporary and permanent migration due to environmental drivers
o Recognition of and assistance to environmentally displaced persons
The abstracts with highest merit will be selected and authors invited to
write full papers for presentation at the conference. The selected
papers will be published in a pre-conference volume. Additionally, two
post-conference publications are planned, in which a selection of the
highest quality and revised papers may be printed: a jointly published
book with the IOM, and a special journal edition of International
Migration.
We encourage you to submit an abstract to the conference secretariat via
online application through the following link:
