Dear colleagues,
The year 2019 is an important landmark in the African landscape of refugee protection and solutions: the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Convention Governing the Specific Aspects of Refugee Problems in Africa. A series of commemorative events will take place in 2019 under the auspices of the African Union, States Parties, and UNHCR.
The Refugee Law Initiative, in partnership with the Institute for International Humanitarian Law and Raoul Wallenberg Institute, will contribute to this effort. By reaching out to practitioners in Africa via a survey, we hope to produce a study showing how the 1969 Convention has influenced protection and solutions in practice on the continent.
If you have worked with the 1969 Convention (or in States parties in Africa and can speak to its gaps), we hope that you will consider taking part in this continent-wide survey BEFORE 15 AUGUST 2018.
