I have no idea if this would be of any use to you (I don't know enough
about the geography of England), but I've just read an article that I
found on the internet that discusses analysis of pollen evidence taken
from central Devon and the edges of Dartmoor (in contrast to that taken
from uplands). Perhaps some of those samples were from water meadows.
