Hello Julie
We had the course copy issue and had to do the following:
Previously we had permissions set to only allow instructors to copy materials into an existing module, this would stop instructors copying materials to new modules they made up themselves and not reflected in Spider (our Student records system). Having the ability to copy to a new module disabled meant that the whole course copy option was not working properly in version 9. So I had to enable the copy to new module option and then disable it again which has fixed the problem.
Thanks, Jake

Hi all
We are now live on v9 at Northampton, despite some bugs that we are awaiting fixes for - mainly those listed below:
- the UK language pack doesn't fix the American date format
- course copy restrictions not working (we used to allow staff to copy content into existing sites but not create new ones, this doesn't seem to work anymore)
- RSS feeds in community modules not working
- tools that we have made unavailable across the board appearing in a few random places in the course sites
We've also had some weird inconsistencies in displays of the course menu (text and button sizes, drop-down menus not displaying where they should) even in 'supported' browsers (of which by the way there aren't that many...), but these are not frequent and difficult to replicate.
The upgrade process (including sp1) was not that painful, although we had a lot of issues with Scholar, and some of our users had a panic when their list of courses didn't display all of the courses they were teaching (they are still enrolled as instructors, but having to use the 'Quick view' module because the 'My Courses' module doesn't seem to work properly). The latter only affected three instructors that we know of so far so again hard to replicate.
So far instructors and students seem to be handling the file download issues ok - we tend to recommend they use Firefox instead of IE if they're having trouble. We've also had some little niggles with guest access courses.
As far as I know, hf1 doesn't work - Bb installed it on our test server and it pretty much killed it so they took it off again.
As we're hosted it's hard to comment on the stability/server issues, except to say that even Managed Hosting seem to be struggling with it - we had a few instances on unplanned downtime in the weeks after the upgrade.
So the upshot is, not so many massive problems but lots of niggly inconsistencies. And take the idea of IE7 being a supported browser with a pinch of salt.
If anyone would like more detail please feel free to email me direct.
Regards
Julie Usher

Hi
We here at Aston are planning only to do minor upgrades to 8.0 SP5 and hotfix 1, then look to move to v9 in 2010. We had a busy summer last year moving all staff and students on to one VLe BB8 (finally!) from BB6 and WebCT4!

Hi
Could I ask how many of you have gone Live with Bb version9 and who will
be going live within the next academic year, we here at Canterbury have
just installed Version 9 on our Development Environment but are probably
going to hold back from going live with Version 9 for at least another
year (testing, training, testing, fixing bugs testing etc)
Many thanks
Chris
