Yes, stock levels of certain products still remain an issue; part of the
price that is paid for large catalogues of equipment and maximising the
financial efficiency of companies. I hope that you will receive delivery
without too great a delay. If you get frustrated, come back to me and I will
see if I can locate a supplier of Tunstall compatible radio modules.
I note your surprise at the levels of knowledge and understanding that
certain social work professionals have in respect of assistive technology.
To a very large extent, this was the reason for the ICES initiative in 2000
and the more recent PTG (telecare) initiative. Personally I am not convinced
that the cyclical promotion of silos of assistive technology via Government
restructuring initiatives is really the answer. The issue is professional
knowledge not structure and this can only be resolved by in-service training
and an appropriate professional syllabus. I now expect to be gain-sayed by
social work professionals defending the status quo...

John

Many thanks. Someone else had given me a contact off list & he has proved
very useful. I believe I need a "universal sensor", which sounds
as though it does exactly what you describe. I've even persuaded
Social Services to order it by fax - my problem now is that the supplier has
no stock! Frustrated at every turn!
BTW I am amazed at the number of people in the social care arena, who have
had no concept of how a person without the use of their limbs could operate
an alarm. Possum were accomplished at this 40 years ago.

Not sure what you actually mean by "interface to"; however, if you simply
want to use the wireless network to transmit a signal that the user of this
switch needs help / attention, then I would suggest that you consider wiring
the switch into the Tunstall Radio Output Module. This device is a Tunstall
transmitter in a box with two terminals for connection to the circuit that
will trigger it and was designed to meet the need to connect third party
items into the Tunstall wireless network. If this is the type of solution
that you are looking for, you should also be aware that the other mainstream
manufacturers of telecare equipment have a similar product for use with
their systems.
If the above is not the type of solution that you are looking for and the
contact provided by Emma Nichols can not assist you, I would be happy to try
and find you the right contact inside Tunstall.

Dear all
Does anyone have a good route into Tunstall for tech info?
I'm trying to produce a special call switch (head movement) which needs to
interface to the Tunstall wireless call system, installed at a residential
home.
I think I'm slowly getting somewhere with their telecare help line, but as
usual with requests for call switches, this is super-urgent.
