With kind regards,
GOLDSMITHS’ COMPANY - ARCHIVIST
Fixed Term Contract (24 months)
Up to £35,000 pa
The Goldsmiths’ Company is one of the Great XII Livery companies of the City of London. Established by Royal Charter in 1327, the Company’s archives span nearly 700 years of history. The Archivist will contribute to two key areas of work associated with improving the accessibility of the Company’s archival collections:
Organisation and structure: review the existing finding aids and physical organisation of the Company’s archival holdings, before devising an appropriate hierarchy which will allow them to be fully catalogued.
Cataloguing and data sharing: assist with the selection, configuration and implementation of a Company-wide CMS, which will include an archive module. Catalogue the Company’s archival holdings to series-level, and produce plans for cataloguing to file level in preparation for this next phase of work. Use your expertise to ensure that the CMS and the archival catalogue records it contains enable data sharing with other platforms.
Ideally, you will have completed an archiving, information management or related degree, and will have demonstrable experience in working with archival collections containing diverse range of material from different periods in history.
In exchange we are offering a salary of up to £35,000 pa, plus benefits package. If you would like to know more about this role, download the job description today from www.thegoldsmiths.co.uk.
