Last week a colleague excavated two waterholes in Norway. It is a relatively
new feature for that country, possibly not always recognised as such.
The pits were dug into the boulder clay (ground moraine) and lined with a
clay layer to make it water tight. They were cone shaped, a diameter of 2
metres and 1.5 metres deep. One of the waterholes had a ditch connected with
