With support from the British and Irish Region of the International Biometric Society, a workshop on geostatistical methods for population health scientists will be delivered by Dr Emanuele Giorgi and Prof Peter Diggle at Lancaster University on 3-5 June 2019. With a mix of lectures and lab sessions, the workshop will cover the class of generalized linear geostatistical models and their applications to public health problems, while keeping the mathematical formalism to a minimum.
The lab sessions will be based on the PrevMap packages available in the R software environment. Each participant will be provided with slides, data-sets and R code beforehand. On the last day of the workshop, participants will be given the opportunity to present and receive feedback on their own projects that address public health questions requiring the use of spatial statistical methods.
The programme of the workshop can be downloaded at this link: www.lancaster.ac.uk/staff/giorgi/Workshop_June2019
Prerequisites for the workshop are basic knowledge of linear regression and (desirable but not necessary) R programming.
