The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics at the
Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) and the
Institute for Employment Research (IAB) Nürnberg
invite applications for a

*Professorship (W2)
(6 years/tenure track)****of Statistics, **
**focussing on Social Surveys and
Labour Market Research**
*
commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship represents the field of social surveys and
labour market research in research and teaching.

As one of Europe’s leading research universities,
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU)
in Munich is committed to the highest international standards of
excellence in research
and teaching. Building on its more than 500-year-long tradition, it
offers a broad
spectrum that covers all areas of knowledge within its 18 Faculties,
ranging from
the humanities, law, economics and social sciences, to medicine and the
natural sciences.

The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) conducts research on the
labour market
in order to advise political actors at all levels in a competent manner.
Economists,
sociologists and researchers from other social science and
methodological disciplines
create the base for empirically well-informed labour market policy by
way of excellently
linked research, both nationally and internationally.

Intensive research and the development of cooperative research projects
are expected.
Teaching duties lie in the entire spectrum of bachelor and master
programs in statistics.
At IAB, the main task of the holder of the position is to ensure the
quality of IAB surveys,
with a special focus on the conception and implementation of surveys.

LMU Munich and IAB Nürnberg seek to appoint a highly qualified junior
academic to this
professorship and, therefore, especially encourage early-career scholars
to apply.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral
degree or a
comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research
and teaching to
date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an
outstanding
academic career. National and international research networks,
experience in the management
of research projects and the acquisition of third-party-funding as well
as communication
and leadership skills are essential for this position.

The appointment will take place within the framework of a cooperation
agreement between
LMU and IAB: The future holder of this position will be appointed to LMU
Munich as a
university professor (paygrade W2) under the terms of a private law
contract. He or
she will be granted leave of absence in order to be employed at IAB as
head of a service
group ´Data Collection and Integration of Data` in the department
´Statistical Methods` (KEM)
and the deputy head of the department. The paygrade at IAB will be
according to TE I (TV-BA)
with a supplementary allowance.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three
years, it can be
converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the
candidate’s performance
in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if
all legal conditions are met.
The place of work will be Nuremberg.

LMU Munich and IAB Nürnberg make a point of providing newly appointed
professors with various
types of support, such as welcoming services and assistance for dual
career couples.

LMU Munich and IAB Nürnberg are equal opportunity employers. Both
continue to be very successful
in increasing the number of female faculty members and strongly
encourage applications from
female candidates.

LMU Munich and IAB Nürnberg intend to enhance the diversity of faculty
members. Furthermore,
disabled candidates with essentially equal qualifications will be given
preference.

Please submit your application comprising a curriculum vitae,
documentation of academic degrees,
summary of teaching activities, as well as a list of publications and
invited lectures, a research
summary and three to five relevant publications only in electronic form
as a single pdf-file, not
greater as 10 MB, to the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics
and Statistics,
