I'm back from the Transliteracies conference at UCSB
http://transliteracies.english.ucsb.edu/category/conference-2005/ and just
beginning to properly surface from the jetlag. A short trip back and forth
across an 8 hour time difference certainly plays games with your mind ;)
The conference discussions were fascinating and very thought-provoking. It
was good to re-meet various people from this list - would any of you like to
post your own comments on the conference?
You'll find the log of a live blogging experiment here
http://transliteracies.english.ucsb.edu/post/conference-2005/seed-questions/
roundtable-3-reading-as-a-social-practice and a visualisation of that
conversation is here
http://hybrid.ucsc.edu/Agonistics/Transliteracies/Interface/agon1.html The
idea was to have a blogging conversation going on in the audience while the
panel was speaking - apparently it is increasingly common to do this in
class, although I must admit it's a fairly hair-raising notion!
Best
Sue
