Dear WFTHN Members,
I think you will all be interested in our latest blog by Natalie Wreyford re-posted from The F Word. In this very timely article, Natalie, BAFTA voter and member of WFHTN, raises some key concerns regarding fairness in awards voting processes. She asks if we should consider nominees behaviours in their working and personal lives, and reminds us of the significant influence of marketing on voting processes, and the disparity that inevitably creates between studios and independents. Crucially, in a year when The Oscars Best Picture Award for Moonlight is a step in a very right direction, she considers the historical loss of creativer diversity as a result of the system, as it still stands.
