The Transport Studies Unit (TSU) in conjunction with the School of Geography and Environment seek to appoint a Departmental Research Lecturer in Transport Studies as soon as possible. We are seeking an exceptional candidate at an early stage of an academic career who has the potential, in the right environment, to demonstrate leadership in their field.

The successful candidate will conduct independent research that is international in outlook with a focus on transport and mobility in and/or between cities. You will assist in teaching, marking and supervision in the undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes in the school, with contributions to DPhil co-supervision.

To undertake this role you must have a doctorate in human geography or a closely related field, with a focus on transport or mobility and have evidence of high-quality research and publications in highly rated, scholarly journals, as well as a record of obtaining research funding. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to be an effective teacher of undergraduate and graduate students of high ability, to lecture at an appropriate level in an interesting and engaging manner, and to carry out student assessment, examination and course design.

This post is a full-time, 5-year departmental appointment with no formal college association, though informal relationships may be established on an ad-hominem basis.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 29 March 2019. Interviews will be held in early May.

Informal inquiries can be directed to Tim Schwanen ([log in to unmask]).
