I modified the sge_submit.sh script and managed to capture the job
wrapper (CREAM977053771_jobWrapper.sh.70154.9073.1337627805
in this instance). Line 23 in that file didn't seem to be related to
this issue.
However, one thing that is there is this line...
__logger_dest=grid-cream-01.hpc.susx.ac.uk:9091
...and when I try...
telnet grid-cream-01.hpc.susx.ac.uk 9091
... I get "no route to host".
There is a local firewall on the cream box (iptables) and lo and behold,
port 9091 isn't open. I opened it and tried again....AND......
.
.
<drum roll please>

ej59@feynman:~/svn_work/grid/tests$ glite-ce-job-status
https://grid-cream-01.hpc.susx.ac.uk:8443/CREAM036570958
****** JobID=[ https://grid-cream-01.hpc.susx.ac.uk:8443/CREAM036570958]
Status = [DONE-OK]
ExitCode = [0]
So looks like we are all systems go!
